Some years ago, when information no longer was
restrained within walls, the position of the library changed and was for many people, especially the young, no longer a primary source of information. If the library is to survive, it has to adapt to the changes of the
society.
The design of the project can (in addition to the context) be seen as a response to these changes. It is divided into two parts:
One part, the box, is revealing and open. It contains the library’s most popular features which are visible and easily accessible. The large space allows a higher level of noise compared to a more traditional library.
The other part, the one below the landscape, contains the administration (bottom floor), parts of the adults section and the local history department. Turned inwards, facing the courtyard, this part is closed from the outside, representing more of a traditional quite library.
