HABITATION, OSLO, NORWAY project description the narrow site leaves little space for manoeuvre. as a result the building volume has been extruded up and cut into to comply with sightlines, sunlight and needs. the building attempts to provide several public “everyday attractions”, such as an interacting and very exposed urban climbing wall, an elevator (in a way) allowing everyone to take part in the climbing, a gym with a panoramic view, etc. the idea was to increase the activity of the surroundings and give better light to a local area that today could feel slightly dark and unsafe. the apartments are private and closed off from the public space. they provide good, bight and calm spaces for living, with the living room and open kitchen as the most important social rooms. the outdoor stair has been expanded to make it more visible and take bigger part in the project. the residents are also given direct access to a courtyard.
